As the month opens, you will be focused on money - not the money you would earn in salary, but rather money you might need to fund a dream, such as the money for college tuition, venture capital for a business, royalties, and an advance you may be able to negotiate on a book you are about to write and publish, or concerning other large one-time payment of funds you seek. You may also be thinking about money other people owe you, such as accounts receivables for your business, or from an ex who had promised more payments but has not yet delivered yet. You may be thinking of taxes you owe or money the government owes you as a refund. Looking back over the past year to examine your financial picture will pay off in a big way this month.

Here's a case in point - May 3 - when you should be thrilled with money that flows to you. Jupiter, the planet of good fortune, now in your behind-the-scenes, confidential area of the chart will reach out to the Sun, in Taurus, in your eighth house of other people's money. This is a very powerful configuration that does not come by often. If you have any financial talks, presentations, or negotiations, or need to make an application for funds, schedule to do so on May 3, a four-star wonder day.

To make money opportunities like the ones I have been speaking about materialize, you need a new moon in the eighth house. Guess what - you will have just that on Friday, May 6, in Taurus, 17 degrees!

The May 6 new moon will be a peach of new moon, and it will be the only one to light your house of other people's money in 2016. Make use of it! New moons open a door to allow events to flow in the ten days that follow it. Here is an important point: the actions you take now to improve your cash picture can pay you dividends for an entire year as you go forward, until the next new moon appears in this same eighth house to refresh the energy. Keep in mind that a new moon is influential for ten days FOLLOWING its appearance - that's when your luck shines, but as you move away from that new moon, and ever closer to the full moon, that new moon's energy will gradually be completely spent. You will have another vital day for seeing more money, and it may be quite a blue-ribbon day. That will be May 10, when profit-oriented Venus will be in ideal angle to good fortune Jupiter in your eighth house - a busy house of you this month. Yes, indeed, Venus is connected to money, something many readers don't realize - they think of Venus as only the love planet (which she is), but Venus rules money, too. Venus happens to be your guardian planet, also called your ruler, so when your ruler meets with Jupiter on your behalf - this time in your financial house - that is VERY good news! Put a big gold star on this day!

By the full moon May 21, in Sagittarius, 1 degree, you will be able to turn away from your calculator and all the financial talks of the month, and enjoy traveling to a pretty spot with big sky, lots of nature, and plenty of fresh air. Your third house of travel will be lit, and so I feel you'll get a chance to go away for a long weekend. You may also hear news about your sister, brother, or cousin at this time, and this person appears to be creating lots of news that you'll want to know all about. This will be the first of two full moons in Sagittarius - the next one comes next month again in Sagittarius, on June 20, which is very rare. Furthermore, Mars will remain in this same third house too in Sagittarius, and Saturn is there as well, so you have quite a lot of planetary traffic in your third house.

If your birthday falls on September 23 plus or minus five days, you will benefit the most from this full moon, and you will notice all the events that I have outlined for you. Here's the problem. Mars is still retrograde, a holdover from April 17, and will continue to retrograde until June 29. Mars will remain in your communication sector until May 27, but keep sliding backward until he reaches Scorpio on May 27 and stay in Scorpio until August 2. In Scorpio, your expenses will rise, perhaps because you will be going on a vacation. Keep in mind, Mars goes direct June 29, but will take until August 22 to return to former strength.

Mercury will also be retrograde, too - Mercury's retrograde started April 28 and will continue to do until May 22. Actually, Mars and his brother Mercury aren't the only retrograde planets this month - add Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto as retrograde too. Five out of eight retrograde planets in May! Wow. We all will be looking back on former situations to see what needs to be fixed, not looking forward, but that is what the universe is asking us to do. In your case, review your expenses, look at recurring expenses, and see if your insurance (health, car, life, and home / renters) is adequate for your needs. Ask your stockbroker to assess your retirement portfolio. Get ready to make changes after Mercury goes direct, May 22.

All month, you will have to take steps to make sure all your work is accurate and typo-free. If you apply for a mortgage or scholarship and your figures are inaccurate, you will doom your chances of success. Delays will come up in broadcasting and publishing ventures, or in other communication-oriented ventures. Your website may be late, and the app you are building may show bugs that have to be fixed before you can take it to market. This is par for the course. I would not recommend you introduce an app or website while all these planets are retrograde.

As said earlier, Mercury will be retrograde until May 22 too, only doubling the reason that you will have to be sure to check everything that leaves your office. In addition, don't send sensitive email to the wrong person by mistake, or leave a private financial document in your company copy machine for the entire world to see. Don't shop for electronics in May - wait until June, but if possible wait, better yet, until July.

The eighth house that is so filled with planetary energy also rules surgery. You might want to schedule a procedure if you feel you've come to the point that you need to do it soon. If the surgery is not urgent, say, for example, you want a full-on facelift, you may want to wait until July or August, when Mercury and Mars both will be moving direct. (Not September, when Mercury will be retrograde again, but you could choose October or November - those would be great months to do any kind of surgery.) Mars rules competition, so it is the most important planet you need on your side when you introduce a new product or service in the marketplace. Without Mars, you may find the introduction falls flat. You will have to do all you can to make it work and be prepared to make a strenuous effort. There are lots of reasons to feel you will have fun in the last week of May, or, looking ahead, during the first three weeks of June. In those weeks, you will have the perfect opportunity to take a vacation. The Sun will move into Gemini on May 20 and brighten your long-distance travel sector (ninth house), and a few days later, Venus, your ruler, will follow the Sun and enter Gemini too and fill your foreign travel sector starting May 24 to June 17. The new moon next month on June 4 will package the energy and open the door to go. Venus in Gemini would also be the sweetest time of the month to go shopping for new clothes. You can shop with Mercury retrograde - just keep the receipts until you are sure you won't exchange the item for a different size or color.

Romantically, your life will become much more affectionate after Venus enters Gemini, one of the best places Venus can be for you. Your allure will be high, dear Libra, so step out and find out what wonderful surprises the world holds for you.

Two wonder days to have fun because they are four-star days will be May 3 and May 10. Circle them! Jupiter will be active on both days, on the first day, aligning with the Sun, and on the second day, with Venus. When it comes to finding true love or celebrating the love you have now, these two days would be ideal to set your feelings soaring.

When Venus moves into Gemini from May 24 to June 17, Venus will also brighten your ability to increase your income. Venus will also help you in other ways, making the end of May through the first half of June your best time to go shopping for new things to wear for the coming or present season. Venus will see to it you find flattering new things to wear. Venus will see to it that you have a divine time while traveling, too.

Mercury and Mars are among the five planets retrograde, and those will be the most troublesome, as both planets orbit closest to earth. Mercury will turn direct on May 22, and Mars will go direct on June 29. Neither planet will be back to former strength for weeks, so you will have to be very deliberate in all your actions. Double check everything you do, and be sure you have not lost your treasures, like eyeglasses, keys, sunglasses, or even your computer. You will have to supply the heavy lifting while the support of these planets is lacking. The other planets out of phase include Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto. (Fortunately, Jupiter, a financial planet, will regulate its orbit on May 9 after five months of being retrograde.)

On the full moon, May 21, news about your sister or brother may surprise or confuse you. Get more information. Mars is close to the moon, so guard against an outburst that might come up, and choose your words carefully when speaking with your sibling. This same full moon may cause you to travel a short distance, most likely to an inspirational, sumptuous setting near water. Be sure to have driving directions before you head out, for your GPS may not operate properly. If you have the proper address and a paper map, you'll be good to go.
