You had a very weighty April, so the universe is about to give you a wonderfully social, happy month of May. The minute the month takes off, you will have a full moon in Scorpio 13 degrees, May 3, likely to bring an event over the May 2-3 weekend that will put you in the center of many smiling people. Neptune will bring silvery beams to this full moon, so it's likely the setting will be romantic and very graceful, with flowers, music, fine food - it looks like an exciting dress-up affair. You may be at a friend's wedding, birthday party, or other celebration. It appears you will need to travel a short distance to attend, and it may be a setting near water, considering Neptune's prominent stance.
If your birthday falls on January 3, plus or minus four days, you will feel the effects and benefits of the full moon. You might also feel its energies directly if you have Capricorn rising at 13 degrees, or a natal planet at 13 degrees, plus or minus five degrees, in Capricorn, Scorpio, Pisces, Taurus, or Virgo.
You have other indications that this month will be special for socializing and romance. Mars has been touring Taurus, a great place for you, for Mars stirred up invitations and get-togethers with friends in April, a trend that will continue during the first ten days of May. Mars may also have brought lovely romantic moments.
The new moon in the same romantic sector (fifth house) will take over when Mars leaves. The new moon will arrive on May 18, in Taurus, 27 degrees. This new moon will light your fifth house of true love and ordinarily bring you your very best opportunity to enjoy romance and if single, find love.
This new moon is flawed, however, in that Saturn will oppose the moon and conjunct the Sun, indicating you would feel considerable stress. It may be that you learn something about the person you are dating that shocks you. Or, it may be that your sweetheart is crisis or ill, and will look to you for support. This new moon is about Taurus, and Venus is Taurus' ruler, but Venus will be challenged directly by Pluto at this time. This appears to be a frustrating point, and to make matters more complicated, Mercury will go retrograde May 18 to June 11. Although I know you are always enthusiastic when it comes to hearing you have energy moving through your fifth house of true love, this kind of energy is confusing and stressful. Stay to yourself, very low key, and plan to socialize at the end of June. Next month will be far easier to navigate - I love June 22 as one of your best days, so circle that date on your calendar.
You may be concerned about a pregnancy or the welfare of a child at this time. If you are in a custody battle, it will take time and patience to sort things out if you begin at the new moon. I would suggest you begin talks in late June, because your talks will be further complicated by the move of Mercury retrograde this month. (More about that in a moment.)
If your birthday falls on January17, plus or minus four days, you will benefit from this new moon the most. The same is true if you have Capricorn rising 27 degrees, plus or minus five degrees, or have a natal planet at that degree with the same mathematical tolerance, in Capricorn, Virgo, Taurus, Scorpio, or Pisces.
Now, back to Mercury retrograde. Yes, it's true, it's time for Mercury to take a rest again, something that happens every twelve weeks or so. Whenever Mercury moves more than twenty-seven and a half degrees in front of the Sun, the Sun orders Mercury back. The Sun wants this intelligent, articulate planet at his side, acting in away like the Sun's agent, and so the Sun never lets Mercury wander too far away.
Do not take a new job when Mercury is retrograde, for the position will not be what you expected it to be when you get into the role. Think of Mercury retrograde periods as times when conditions will be in flux, but that you won't see that they are until much later. If you use the priorities you usually use to make decisions, your choices will be flawed, and you will wonder what you were thinking when you made those moves.
The exception to this rule is if the offer emanates from a former boss or client. In that case you would not be starting a new relationship or venture but continuing an ongoing relationship from the past. (With Mercury retrograde, it is a fortunate time to go back and redo, redesign, readdress, re-examine, but not start a new venture or relationship.) If you get an offer, and it is new, and you are desperate for a job, take it, and plan to change later. It's always easier to get another job once you have one, as unfair as that may be.
Mercury will retrograde in Gemini this time, in your work projects sector, so that's where you will feel a large part of the delays and slowdowns that Mercury is known to do. This will be the sixth house. Last month was your month to make a big career move, so perhaps you did, and if so your timing was right. Do not accept a job this month, as it would represent a lateral move, to a job similar to the one you had, not a step up. That may be fine with you, depending on your circumstances, but most people like to have more status, responsibility, and money as they go along.
If you have a new baby, for example, you may be interested in a job that requires the same type of work you did in your last job, but in a new company environment. In your case, you have enough adjustments to handle. With family dynamics changing, you probably wouldn't want to also adjust to a more powerful job. You see my point. There are many different circumstances, and sometimes career does not take center stage. If you want to make a lateral move, you will get your chance after the new moon, June 16.
Mars will move into Gemini to stay from May 11 to June 24 and bring you many more projects and assignments. You will be very busy, and mumbling to yourself, "Never a dull moment around here!" You will be happy to see that business will be percolating briskly at a steady rate.
There will be two difficult days this month for relationships. The first will be May 15, when a sweetheart or co-worker seems to be uncooperative. Mercury will receive an opposition from Saturn, so you will need to watch what you say, verbally and in writing, as you may say something you wish you hadn't. On this day, just listen and refuse to be provoked.
The hardest day of the month, possibly the year, will be May 22, when Saturn will oppose the Sun. You may have problems with a romantic relationship, or you may be concerned over the health and welfare of your father or other male relative.
