Virgo Horoscope for January 2016

As the month opens, you have a gathering of heavenly bodies in your fifth house of romance, children, fun, and leisure, including Pluto and Mercury, the Sun and new moon, January 9 in the divinely compatible sign for you, Capricorn at 19 degrees. This new moon is mixed, but will open up a chance to jazz up your love life, for it will receive a gorgeous, shimmering vibration from Jupiter, the giver of gifts and luck. If you are single, be determined to circulate. If you are attached, you may now enjoy being with your children or decide together to have a baby soon. This would be a perfect month to try for conception - do so after January 9.
If your birthday falls within four days of September 12, you will feel the January 9 new moon the most, and benefit quite a bit from it. Admittedly, money may be a concern, but the social aspects of this new moon may more than compensate. If you know your natal chart, if you have Virgo rising at 19 degrees, or a natal planet or moon in Virgo, Taurus, or Capricorn near 19 degrees (allow five degrees plus or minus 19 degrees), you too will benefit.
Throughout the month, keep an eye on your spending, for this new moon will be in tight, hard angle to the Uranus, the planet of unexpected news, and because Uranus is in a financial house, this is where you are likely to hear about a sudden expense. Friends might encourage you to spend freely, but you've been under an usually expensive period, and it looks like the last thing you need is another expense that occur haphazardly, say, while on a vacation or being part of your friend's wedding, enjoying yourself, but not noticing how much money is slipping through your fingers.
Part of the reason you have been subject to high expenses is due to Mars in Libra, which started November 12. From that point on, Mars inflamed your financial sector, but the good news is that Mars will leave this area of your chart on January 3. You might say, "That period represents the holiday shopping season, so of course everyone's spending becomes high in November and December." Yes, that would be true and a logical argument, but astrologically that does not completely explain what you have been going through. Virgo and Pisces were the only two signs that were hit hardest lately with unusually high check writing since mid-November.
So intense was the flow of expenses coming toward you that you may have needed a loan to cover costs, or had to put high balances on your credit cards. If you have savings, you may have had to dip into them (but of course, you didn't likely touch your retirement account, which has high penalties to withdraw money.) This is a temporary situation, but something other than holiday gift giving seems to have driven up your costs. Perhaps you bought a house last month, or have been investing in your business, or had a baby, as three examples of a nearly endless list of possibilities. The good news is that Mars will stop the heavy flow of money out of your account after January 3, so you can take a sigh of relief.
The problem is, Mars was not the only culprit in this scenario. Uranus was not doing you any financial favors by remaining in close, tight mathematical aspect to Pluto, a long-term aspect that is on its way to fading away.
You may have one shocking piece of news regarding a financial situation on January 7 or 9, when the Sun and Uranus and the moon and Uranus, will all be in hard angle to Pluto. That news seems to relate to spending or a situation that is tied to an earlier action or decision that will peak now. Because of all this, you may have to curtail spending now in regard to a vacation, special entertainment, social plans you made with a friend, or spending on behalf of a child. You had a similar financial situation last October, in the days that followed the new moon, October 12. I know - you are tired of all this! It's almost over, dear Virgo.
Keep an eye on taxes and do your best to file an accurate return for 2015 in the coming months. If you cannot afford to pay your taxes, file your tax return anyway to avoid a huge penalty. At the same time, write the government to ask for a payment plan. You appear to be between a rock and a hard place right now, but you can gradually resolve things.
As Uranus moves farther away from Pluto later this year, you will not be under these tense financial aspects anymore. Uranus and Pluto's dispute with each other will become wide by July, and even wider by September of this year (this is good news), so you do have reason to believe your financial situation will improve substantially in time, assuming you do all you can to help things along on your end. You are coming to the end of this long and very stressful financial period, dear Virgo.
Despite news about a financial detail that may be difficult at the new moon January 9 and in the days that follow, you will have golden opportunity in terms of seeing your social life take flight. Although most people find December their social time of the year, you were very involved with home and family last month, so you had more things on your to-do list than to relax. The universe has prepared January as your time to let your hair down and have fun.
Venus will move into Capricorn, the place it needs to be to help dazzle your magnetism, from January 23 to February 16. That's the period when your charisma will be highest, and when you will be able to draw others to you almost effortlessly. When Mars moves out of your financial sector on January 3 and into Scorpio, Mars will also help boost Venus' appeal once you get beyond January 23. You have a lot going for you, dear Virgo.
Moreover, the ancient astrologers always wrote that having Jupiter in your sign, as it is now for the first time in twelve years, is considered the very best phase in your life for meeting your one true love. Circulate if you are single, dear Virgo. You have rare and beautiful aspects to find lasting love.
Mercury will be retrograde from January 5 to 25 in Capricorn, so you will be looking back over previously done projects and working on redesigns and changes that the client hopes to see. You may also be thinking too about a former relationship. If you want to try to reconcile with your former sweetheart, Mercury, your ruler, now in your love sector, will allow you to try to come together again. Your best day to make your move will be January 18, when Mars and Neptune (the latter planet that rules your seventh house of serious relationships) will be in sync.
Mars will now be in water sign Scorpio from January 3 to March 5, a water sign that will go along so very well with Venus in earth sign Capricorn from January 23 to February 16. Water and earth make flowers, and will provide a far better background to your attempts to find love than you've had in a long time.
Mars in Scorpio will bring in lots of communication, texts, and phone calls. You may be able to travel during this phase, but as said earlier, keep an eye on costs. Some of the travel might be for work, so in that case your company may cover the expenses of your trip and give you a chance to enjoy a fun change of scene. You won't likely go far, but that seems not to matter - you will love being out of the house, even for a short time.
Mars in Scorpio may have you working on a manuscript, as writer or editor, proofer or researcher, or on advertising, publicity, or on app development. Keep in mind that Mercury is retrograde and covers all these types of activities, so work slowly and double-check everything you do. It will be all too easy to have an error or inaccuracy show up later. As a Virgo you are the most talented of all signs when it comes to dealing with detail.
It is not wise to do any shopping for electronic items, including appliances, during Mercury retrograde, so hold off until February. If you are offered a job, it's not the best time to accept it, not unless you are going back to work for a company you worked for in the past, or for an individual you know and used to work with at one time. If you are out of work, in that case, take the job, but realize the job description will change in some way that will not likely please you. Contracts you sign in January will only have to be renegotiated in February.
Mercury does not normalize its orbit the instant it turns direct, but rather, Mercury takes time to build back to its former strength. This time, Mercury won't be back to that point until February 14-15. Mercury is your ruler, so knowing this may be important to you. If you have something vital you need to put in place to stabilize or to boost your future prospects, you may want to wait to initiate it to mid-February.
If you can't wait that long, I would suggest you take action just after the February 8 new moon. If you can't wait for February, then at least wait until the very end of January. It is never ideal to jump on the day after Mercury retrograde, because the toughest part of the retrograde - the miscommunications, the faulty thinking, the forgetfulness, and delays that are so prevalent during these periods - are strongest at the start and end of the Mercury retrograde period. I call those start and end dates (this month, January 5 and 25) to be the bookend dates. Avoid these dates and leave space of several days around them, for this is when Mercury will be at his strongest and most troublesome.

You may crave privacy and rest at the full moon in Leo, 3 degrees on January 23. Fortify yourself against colds at this time, as you will have a very busy, demanding month. This full moon will fall in your twelfth house of privacy, so that is why I feel you will want time alone. If you have a trip on the agenda near January 23, you might have to delay it. If you need surgery or a procedure, you may decide to have it done within four days of this date, January 23.
This same house rules secrets, so something you didn't know, and that someone tried to keep from you, may come up to the surface at this time. This will be happening so that you can protect yourself - rather than be upset, use the information to your advantage.
Before I go, I have two dazzling days to tell you about. You may want to put a gold star on each on your calendar! The first day will be January 12, when Venus, touring your fourth house of home, will be in touch with Uranus, the planet of surprise, in your house of other people's money. You may hear very good news from the bank about an approval for an excellent mortgage or home improvement loan, or you may receive money from your family to help you buy a house.
Another way this might turn out is if you are currently selling property or items in your home - on this day you may receive a surprisingly good price. If you put a bid on a house or condo, you may be amazed that you get it. See what happens on January 12, but be careful - I want you to sign papers in February (any time) but not in mid-January if that is at all possible.
The golden day of the month will be January 13, coming the following day, for when it comes to love, the force will be with you. You will be happy on this - possibly downright giddy - when just about everything goes your way. Be sure to circulate! If you like, use January 13 to improve your looks in any way you prefer - you can schedule a meeting with your hairstylist or barber, or buy new clothes. Men can choose a new cologne and women might want to choose new makeup. Improve your "package" to help Cupid along, dear Virgo. This day is special.
The following day, January 14 will be outstanding too with Mercury and Jupiter in perfect trine angles (considered one of the best aspects possible), but the moon will be void of course most of the day, so I want you to move important meetings to the day prior, January 13. When the moon is void of course, meetings tend to get cancelled or changed anyway. You will be happy on January 14, but if your activities are due to be vital for your future, you will want to move all the meetings to January 13.
