Leo Forecast for September 2015

This month will be about love, money, and power. You may also have possibilities for quick travel and/or a key negotiation coming on an important deal. Does this sound like an interesting month ahead? It will be!

As the month opens, romance will be lovely. You should be feeling energetic, charismatic, and possibly even super-sexy. This would be due to the combined work of Venus and Mars in Leo, a very glamorous vibration. It's been so long since you had these two planets that specialize in magnetic attraction to favor you that you may even be a bit bewildered by the attention that will be directed your way without even trying. In fact, you may not even be aware that you are exuding a certain elegant aura that is turning heads, but I can see by your solar horoscope that you do.

Indeed, as the month opens, September 1-2, Venus and Mars will be in Leo sending out firecracker sparks of brilliant chemistry between you and another, because that's the aim of these two lover planets - to keep love alive in the world! On September 1-2 they were in conjunction, a vibration known to be quite irresistible. The best part of this is that that these two planets don't have to be in precise conjunction to be effective for you, but just be within eight to ten degrees, which they will be most of the month, until September 22.

Venus will go direct on September 6, so you will find that Venus in Leo will work harder and more productively for you than she has in weeks. You won't likely encounter glitches in matters of the heart anymore, not like those that you may have experienced ever since Venus started to go retrograde on July 25. I had cautioned readers not to have plastic surgery or make dramatic changes in your hair or other looks, especially on the face, while Venus was retrograde (until September 6). In my life, I lost my favorite sunglasses but was reluctant to pick out new ones until Venus would normalize her orbit. Venus covers anything having to do with good looks and embellishment (here I am also talking to my male readers). If you are single, you will find that any new relationship you start from now on will have a good shot at being stable and affectionate. It's been said when Venus is retrograde, affection and attention is lacking.

It is true that as any planet retrogrades, it reduces its powers as it rests, for us mortals below cannot access those assets. Because Venus rules beauty, love, parties, jewelry, flowers, fine wines, fine food, and all the frosting of life, the past weeks were likely too no-frills for everyone, including you. Celebrate by giving a party, booking a pampering spa treatment, or if you have been holding out, by getting engaged. Start looking for new clothes for the coming season, as the stores will start to brim with beautiful new and creative merchandise to tempt you.

Don't wait too long to give yourself a fun "Venus" day, as another planet, Mercury, will begin to retrograde this month from September 17 to October 9. During Mercury retrograde, you can't shop for anything electronic or a machine with moving parts (and that includes a car), but you can buy clothes if you carefully organize your receipts in an envelope you can grab and go to if necessary. Don't cut off the tags of your new items too quickly, for a week later you may have second thoughts. Or, you may realize that the size is wrong, and you may wonder if it was all that flattering on you. Judgment goes out the window while this planet of intellect is in retrograde, possibly because Mercury retrograde increases distractions and forgetfulness. At work, we find it nearly impossible to get final decisions from clients or VIPs in our own company.

Still, Mercury retrograde is a perfect time go over a project you just finished to make sure the facts you put into it are correct and that you've polished it until it shines. If you wrote a novel or screenplay, ask yourself, "Did I round out each of the characters thoroughly enough? Are their motives revealed to the audience eventually and somewhat compelling? Is my ending powerful enough? What are the alternative endings I could have generated?" Your editor is likely thinking the same questions, but the questions and answers may be better if they come from you.

If you are about to give a presentation to a client, do you have alternative ideas ready to show the client, just in case the client rejects the first, main idea? I have a motto - "One idea is a dangerous thing. Have many!" You have the client's attention, and that's valuable. That idea has brought you this far - and you invested a lot of time and energy into the project - so don't drop the ball by bringing just one idea while you have built a powerful connection. If the client doesn't like the idea, you will hit a wall, and you will be done.

The house that will hold Mercury retrograde will be the intellectual third house, ruling writing, editing, proofing, speaking, digital coding, telecommunications, negotiating, research, translation, research, improvisation, comedy writing, courtroom debate - you get the idea - and one of these areas is likely to be important to you. Give yourself time to tinker and play. As your schedule opens up, you will have the luxury of doing this. There's a saying in the photography industry that if you send a photographer to Paris for only three days, most photographers will come back with banal, unimaginative, trite images - stereotypes of French men wearing berets; the Eiffel Tower lit up at night, twirling in color; outdoor cafes with happy Parisians drinking wine; chic French women kissing their lovers over breakfast croissants - you get the idea, all cliches. I am oversimplifying this to make a point, for I doubt any photographer could be this bad!

However, if you send a photographer to Paris for two weeks, the delicate, subtle, insightful, and beautifully lit photographs will come back to you. Beauty, art, design, and poetry all take time, thinking, and passionate intent to develop. The very best creativity cannot be rushed. Of course if you send a highly talented photographer to Paris, you will likely get gorgeous work from the start, in three days, but my point is, if you want the best possible results, be willing to keep going back, allowing time to work on the project. Like a soft, memorable, beautifully balanced and haunting perfume, you need to relax a bit to allow your imagination to roam free. You want to recapture the way you were in childhood, with a sense of giggles and fun. Pressure kills creativity. These two elements of life stand at opposite ends of the spectrum. Some people say they love working under pressure, but in truth, recent research shows that this assumption is not true. More time given to a project almost always yields better results. Of course, there are limits to how long you can take on a project, so it is all about balance, budget, and parameters. Too often money dictates the results. I have one thing to add to this: When the project is seen, no one will know how long you had to do the assignment or how much you were paid. You will be judged solely on the quality of the work.

Sometimes I think of American founder Thomas Jefferson, writing the Declaration of Independence at home. It was a miserably hot, humid summer in Philadelphia in 1776. Not having thought much about it, you may have assumed that he worked in cool, fragrant gardens in brilliant light. Instead, I bet his wife burned the pot roast, the children were fighting, and there was, of course, no air conditioning. He likely had to work with a lantern that might have been growing dim at night, straining his eyes. I think Mr. Jefferson must have worked under the worst of circumstances and yet the Declaration of Independence is highly poetic and still stands as a masterpiece.

I have heard stories on Michelangelo's painting of the Sistine Chapel. You get my point - in the end, the brilliant quality of your work is all that will ever matter. Never say, "This is not worth more than a day's work." My seventh grade teacher used to say, "The paper I am assigning you today is important, as it will be every day. If tomorrow an atom bomb would fall and destroy everything on earth, imagine this. Eons later, future scientists may land here to come to sift through the rubble. If all they could find is the paper that you will write tonight, it will have to stand for all of civilization on earth."

I loved my seventh grade teacher - she was my favorite. She taught us poetry, and she inspired us with thoughts like this. She was unforgettable.

Now let's turn to your finances, which should bring all good news. Indeed, financially, your outlook will be dazzling. Your first clue that you will be luckier than a Leprechaun will be on September 8 when Mars, still in Leo, will be in ideal angle to Uranus, in Aries. Both are fire signs, denoting that the money will stem directly from your creativity, ideas, and your uncanny intuition this month. Uranus is the planet of genius, lightning bolts, disruption, sometimes chaos, rebellion, and unconventional thinking and will receive energy from fiery Mars. You won't win your money but earn it through your imaginative thinking - the chart shows this.

A bigger focal point of your financial thinking will arrive at the month's friendly eclipse of September 12-13 in Virgo. This is a new moon, so something you've been working on over past weeks and months may suddenly come through. Or, you may get a sudden moneymaking opportunity that will take your breath away. Jupiter will not be near this new moon solar eclipse, but it will protect your income all year, well into September 2016 of next year. This is your time to be rewarded financially for work you've been doing as far back as ten years, as you gradually built your reputation, your performance, and habits. Still, your lucrative success now will be even more directly related on the seeds you planted since July 2014.

Suddenly those recently planted seeds will start to grow like Jack and the Beanstalk's, skyward. You may be amazed when you see this start to happen, for you won't be given many clues that this powerful growth will be starting up below the surface, but you will in short order. The harder and smarter you worked, the greater the results. Pluto in your workaday assignment sector (sixth house) will be standing by to get you the boost of power you need but have not seen in recent memory. Pluto is associated with big, behemoth multi-national companies that have power, money, and might. This could be the great cartoon giant who comes to your door to offer you the kind of massive opportunity you used to assume would never be yours - until it is. Pluto could be like a giant who will show you, and lift you up in the palm of his hand to top of the mountain. With your stunning, golden aspects, this month - and this entire year to come - nothing is out of the question, dear Leo.

Certain industries will be especially lucrative for you: international markets, the college market, and anything having to do with higher education, publishing, broadcasting and Internet, the courts system, and the legal field. If you have an idea, be sure to copyright it, trademark it, or file a patent.

September 22 could turn out to be a very happy, interesting day to watch when another moneymaking opportunity may fly through your window and land in your lap quite suddenly.

Mars, the energy planet that starts the pot on your stove boiling, will be in Virgo and tour your second house. This will raise your spending from September 24 through November 12, but it could be that you will spend money to make money. Or you may need to attend to a home, property, or family matter. Mars in Virgo will ask you to be practical, and if you are buying, to bargain for best prices. You will be making money too, and during this phase, you will be able to hit on more ways of generating cash flow.

The month's last eclipse will occur September 27, in Aries, 5 degrees, and focus your attention on the areas you and I have been talking about: long-distance travel, a foreign people or places, legal matters, broadcasting and publishing, academia, or other ways of disseminating information or taking it in through study. You may experience changes in one of these areas of your life, so you will have to watch to see.

Eclipses demand progress in the blink of an eye, and their messages are quick. You may graduate from college or pass a big qualifying exam; you may win a court case that brings you a large chunk of money; your book may be published; or your TV or radio show may generate interest from a major player in the media business. All sorts of surprises happen at eclipse time. Life seems to move on fast forward, so buckle up!

Taskmaster Saturn will move into Sagittarius on September 17 to stay two years and two months, until December 2017. Saturn will bring life lessons in love, but don't worry about that, as Saturn's placement in Sagittarius is one that blends beautifully with yours, and this means you will absorb the lessons of Saturn easily and quickly. If you were born at the end of July, you are feeling the support of Saturn most directly now.

Your fifth house, where Saturn has moved, rules pregnancy and children as well, so if you are ready to have children, you may not want to procrastinate too long. Saturn in this area of the chart is known to often bring delays in conception. Or, Saturn may bring circumstances that may make you put off having a child indefinitely. That could be a tricky, as the number one most often asked question from readers appears to be, "Can I have a baby or have I waited too long?"

One young pretty young lawyer Sarah told me she found her one true love - her partner-to-be was a lawyer too. They were planning to save up for a house first, and marry in three years. In that time, each would develop their careers, buy a condo, and have a baby as she reached 38. Everything has been carefully mapped out.

I told Sarah that her target date of 38 might be on the late side, for if life events interfere, what if 38 leads to 42? She said she loved her job and needed to first develop her reputation. That was her priority, not having a baby. I asked, "In case events don't go according to plan, are you willing to give up your firstborn? That seems like a big sacrifice." She said she never said she was willing to give up having a baby for her job. I gently replied, "Yes, you kind of did, if you think about it. You are risking a lot. You have life planned out, but life is messy and often takes twisty, surprising routes. If you think back on your life so far, life never quite proceeds as we expect. We have to be flexible, anticipate obstacles, and always have a Plan B and C."

I cannot get out of my head a meeting with a lovely brunette who was carrying twins but lost them in her fifth month. Her husband left her immediately. She was 38. They went to couples counseling, but she told me that didn't work out - he was already on to the next girl. She never in a million years anticipated this happening. Her question: "I am 38. Will I ever have children? I have to find someone new, go through courtship, and get pregnant. I am running out of time!" My heart aches for her, and I think of her all time. Her chart was hopeful, so I hope the puzzle pieces of her life were falling into place, as she was clearly a very loving person who would make a warm wife and mother.

I asked Sarah to see her doctor first, get several tests, and ask many questions. Although we all read about celebrities having babies at all ages, we don't know the circumstances or the expense the celebrity incurred, or the backstory of how the child was conceived - sometimes through a surrogate, or through in vitro. It is best to be armed with information from our doctor before mapping out life in the way that Sarah did. My feeling about that is this: babies bring luck and motivation. Your outlook for making money, dear Leo, has never been better, so being able to afford a baby does not appear to be a concern in coming months. Perhaps this will help you make your decision. However, Saturn in your fifth house may show you that being a mother or father is more demanding that you anticipated, but remember - Saturn brings the kind of rewards that are deep and enduring. The one goal that you choose now involving love and relationships, creativity, and children will form one of the pillars that buttress your life, now and forever.
